Want to know how close you are to reaching your fluency goals? The Open English course is built around six Checkpoints that assess your speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Unlike traditional or other online English tests, which use computerized grading systems, certified native-speaking teachers grade the speaking and writing sections of our Checkpoints. As a result, you will not only get back your scores, but also detailed feedback and study recommendations to accelerate your progress. Your Checkpoint scores have equivalencies to these standardized tests: TOEFL, TOEIC, and IELTS.

Check out your real-time Progress page, where you can graph the completion of your weekly goals and review key learning metrics such as your lesson history and checkpoint results. You will even be able to calculate the date when you will complete the course and reach fluency using our handy Fluency Calculator.
